As IRX 2013 approaches, we?re taking an in-depth look at each of the six conferences. Today the focus is on the Online Merchandising and Selling Conference, to be held in the eSeller Theatre on March 20.
It?s now easier and cheaper than ever to set up an ecommerce business. But while advances in low-cost technology have helped many into the market, it has also made the industry more competitive as rival retailers fight for attention. How can you make sure your business wins its share of browsers and successfully turns them into shoppers? It?s this question that the Online Merchandising and Selling Conference aims to answer.
Conference director Dan Matthews, editor of eSellermedia.com, said: ?This really is a must-see conference for anyone wanting to sell more online. With spokespeople people ranging from mega-brands like Facebook, Amazon and eBay to dynamic fast-growing entrepreneurial firms and ecommerce experts, it is the perfect channel for anyone wanting to grow their business online.?
The day opens, following the chair?s introduction, with an opening session from conference sponsor Channel Advisor at 10.30am.
At 11am, Facebook?s Felicity McCarthy, head of SMB marketing communications in EMEA, will give practical advice on how businesses can use the social media platform to best effect, sharing case studies and highlighting best practice approaches. She?s the morning keynote speaker in the conference, taking as her subject, How to use Facebook to grow your retail business.
At 11.30am, Chris Poad, director of eseller services at online giant Amazon, will be looking at different approaches to making those international sales that are now the chosen route for retailers of all sizes as they look to boost their turnover in Can you sell overseas?
Paul Hornby, head of ecommerce at Shop Direct Group, takes to the platform at 12 noon. In Building trust, Hornby will emphasise the important role that satisfied customers play in marketing through word-of-mouth recommendations. He will share insights on how to talk to customers and how to use them as sounding boards for the business. Respecting their customer rights in areas such as returns underlies this.
eBay director of mobile commerce Europe Olivier Ropars is the speaker in the afternoon keynote session, at 1.30pm, followed by a panel session on Advanced Selling Techniques at 2pm. Costas Daminaou, founder of Magic Tao, Darren Cresswell, co-founder of WAE+, James Hardy, head of Europe at Alibaba.com, and Andy Soloman, chief executive of Yomdel are the speakers for this hour-long session, where speakers will focus on the successful approaches they?ve taken to converting customers and boosting sales.
